I've now got a 6.5 gal tank like the one you referenced in the related link. One last question (today, anyhow) do I leave the fuel return line as is (going back to the boat's diesel tank)? Thanks for all your help. Jane

Return on outboard tank

I recently swapped a leaking aluminum tank for a plastic outboard tank on my Hunter 27'. I intalled a brass fitting to the plastic tank for the fuel return line. It seemed to do the trick. I now have a problem with the starter and/or starter button, so I haven't been able to run the engine for several weeks. Therefore, I don't know how reliable the fuel system is.

Ed don't know. :)

Ed does not have a fuel return line on his '79 H37C. Mine is a 2QM20 and the return is just to a secondary filter. Someone will correct me but I think that line is to return fuel that cannot be handled by the injectors when there is too much pressure from the pump. If so then just leaving it connected as is should be fine. You could add a connection like Greg did but that kind of defeats the simplicity of the setup. You could also ask Gordon Torresen over on his Yanmar site. See link below. And let us know.
