Unless yours sinks when you launch it, you got a much better deal even if this one goes for $203.

Adsitional $169 Processing Fee?

Sounds half way crooked to me. I don't think I'd touch it even with someone elses money.

Well if someone living in that area wants a 23 looks to me they could check the document number and see if the boat and trailer has a clean title. For the price I would think that some one could put a little time, effort and money and have a boat. For many that beats buying new.

Except from the looks of that one (which is offered by a "charity" as a donated item, with no title) there's a lot of things to buy and replace . Also, with all the missing and damaged items, you might need to pay 3 or 4 thou or more plus a lot of labor. Might be better off buying a $1200 boat like you got :)

They do say they are throwing in a new compass - maybe it's worth 200 for that. Wait - I just checked - it's up to $208.50 now, with just over a day left. Gettin' pricy.

Actually they are a good company. I bought a boat once and it was not as advertised and they refunded my money no questions asked.

Boat Angel is a good charity to work with. I bought my 1985 Hunter25.5 thru them. They made the transaction very easy, and I think that I got a pretty good deal.

In case there is someone on the east coast looking for a Hunter 23 for parts or restore. Just to point out in the listing it mentions the boom and main sail had been stolen. However last I looked it was only at $200

About a week or two ago I saw that same Hunter 23 for sale on craigslist for $1500 with a used main and "non-original" boom, guess the ebay buyer is just gonna flip it without really fixing it up.

Is there really an advantage over the fixed keels? If they are so much better why did they stop making them so early on?

Presumably, with board down, there's more surface area to counteract sideslip, and if the board is weighted, the weight would be lower and thus more effective in helping right the boat. Kind of like why they make many boats that have a shoal draft keel option also with a deeper keel, if you don't live in shallow waters.

However, the hassles of having centerboard trunks, pivots, the maintenance involved, etc. seem to me to be worse than any advantages - I don't race; all I care about is decent performance, tacks OK, won't get knocked down, etc., so I'd opt for the fixed keel. Maybe that's why Hunter dropped the CB model.

I am curious to see what this eBay auction goes for - tends to affect the value of our boats.
