I just performed a super-easy boat modifcation on my 23..replaced my standard jib cleats with cam cleats. 2 cam cleats from marinepartdepot.com, $16 each. The bolt pattern was the same as the stock cleats! I got some harken wedges to put under them for a few dollars, some hardware..$50 and an hour later I have cam cleats! I'm not 100% sure about the stainless cams though..they look nice and I don't pull the line through them, just snap it in, so i'd expect they wont hurt my sheets, but one aspect I dont like is that when the hardware is snugged up to my liking, the cams dont move well, and they have their own idea of how tight they should be. Perhaps this is from an automotive background and i'm looking to overtighten through-bolts on fiberglass? Or perhaps the quality of my $16 cam cleats is less than desierable..I will have to investigate and let you know!

My rudder pendant

for lowering the rudder uses the same camcleat. It ate up the line.

Spinlock

I went from cam cleats to spinlocks on the jib. Man, what a difference. The spinlocks are really easy to use. I can adjust the jib while standing anywhere in the cockpit. They will run you about $50 each but they are worth it.

spinlock mount?

JJJ Could you attach a pic of your mount? I also use spinlocks for the jib on our 260 but find them cumbersome. They were on the boat when we bought it and are mounted flush on the cabin roof next to the clutches. Maybe they'd be better mounted raised up an inch or so. Thanks, Michael

Sure

I will get a pic of them but it won't be until next week since I will be out of town. They are on the cabin roof next to the clutches though. I bought the ones that bolt right into where the cam cleats were with no mod needed. I think the model is PXR810T. I found the cam cleats a bit cumbersom since you really couldnt use the winch on those really windy days and lock it into the cam. With the spinlocks I have they are up high enough were it does work. Raising them might help if you are having a hard time locking them in. It should be easy to make a riser out of wood or buying one. Since my model mounts into the Harken holes I know I could find one already made, so if you have the same model it should be easy.
