What recommendations/prices/availability do you have close to Riverhead for a Beneteau Oceanis 370 drawing 4'2"??? Do you recommend any particular marinas, private locations there or do you recommend other locations for closeness to better sailing??? Thanks in advance! Ron

Nice place on Long Island

How close to Riverhead do you need to be, and is that by water or driving? (IMHO that there isn't much deep water in Riverhead.) We've enjoyed nice facilities in Greenport. The town has a bit going on, but isn't overdone. Sag Harbor is similar. West of Riverhead you could get into Mt. Sinai harbor, but there isn't much of a town that you can easily get to without a car. Port Jefferson is a neat place where the town is right at the dock. Setauket Y.C. is a friendly low-key place for sailors. For car access from Maine (for crew and getting back to work), there are ferries from New London to Orient Point, LI and from Bridgeport to Port Jefferson.

perhaps we're moving there

Depending on negotiations/mutual interests, we may be moving to the Riverhead area. So, our ? is really looking to find out info about where we may keep our boat. We will have two days off per week, one month vacation per year. We will be living in a hamlet of Riverhead and have no idea of depth, time to get to great sailing, cost of moorings/slips and so forth. We may wish to have our boat pulled and stored at home during the winter depending on expenses involved. So, this would be a change from sailing out of Falmouth Foreside, ME to sailing our of Riverhead or some other location that is within an hour (or so) of Riverhead. Thanks in advance once more! :) Ron

Aquabogue is our new location if ...

In fact, it is Aquabogue where we may move. Another choice is Mattituck however I have no idea about availability or price there as well. We have some folks who own houses on Jonesport who might let us drop a mooring if the town permists same but ... Ron
