NY harbor

I sail out of Port Jefferson and am trying to go to the Great South Bay. I called USCG Moriches at 631 395-4400 and was adivised that as of this past Sunday, the Port of NY and the East River and the Hudson off Manhattan was only open mon- fri 8am to 4 pm and was subject to change without notice. The Coast Guard is also broadcasting on 16 and 22 advising of the status of NY Harbor. I may be going around Montauk.Good Luck

Some boat traffic

I was at Liberty Park NJ Tuesday late afternoon and saw what looked like a fair amount of boat traffic - perhaps ferry and tourist boats. There were two large CG cutters parked between the Statue of Liberty and Battery Park, and a couple of smaller CG boats sporting machine guns.
