We will relocate to the East Coast within a year. The purpose of the move is to be closer to Grandchildren. We are retired. We will relocate somewhere from the Chesapeak south to the South Carolina/Georgia border. I would like to hear from people in that area with deep draft boats, over 7 feet.I would like to keep my 376 but according to many here that would be a very bad mistake.

Maybe I missed it

but why would that be a mistake? Seems to me the Channel Is is where you'd want the deep keel. Chespeake calls for shaol draft, doesn't it? Or maybe I missed something here...

get a new one

Gail: I would not evet want a boat with more than 4.5 feet draft in NC. There are too many wonderful places to visit that you will not be able to go. You will be limited in the number of Marinas, repair yards, and Hurricane hidy holes that you can use as well. I bet you really love your boat, but maybe it is time for a different one. Sincerely, Frank

Cutting the Keel

and adding wings might be the solution you look at if you can't bear the idea of trading. Check out the site of Mars Metal at marsmetal.com and read the articles. They will also quote you on the web and show you how to measure. The trick is to find someone who can do it. Good luck with your decision and with the move.
