East coast Vega Rendez Vous 2013

Is there anyone out there interested in creating an "East Coast" rendezvous? Just thought I would chuck it out there.

Hi John. Yes, I have been interested in having one for years, at least for Vega owners in the Maine area. There are several Vegas in Maine, although at least 2 in my own immediate area remained on the hard this year. I tried organizing a get together way back in the 80's, but it all fell apart. I think a good place to have a get together in Maine would be Belfast--plenty of moorings available, a nice waterfront park, many nice restaurants, and a fun town to walk around. It would be relatively easy to get to for Vegas coming from the south or north. Plenty of shore accommodations plus Camden State Park is nearby if people did not want to sail to Belfast. Paul and I would be happy to help organize it if there is sufficient interest. We organized a Florida Vega gathering back in the 80's--it was a lot of fun!

Hi Tom - bit late for this year but we could start planning for a rally on the East Coast of UK in 2013 , for example somewhere in the Harwich area or anywhere between the Medway area and Lowestoft.

I assume you mean East coast of the continent of North America. For a moment you had me all excited, here on the East coast of the UK.

This is great" grass roots" and all that. Belfast Maine would be a super cool location. I am in Halifax which is a good sail away. This is expeditionary sailing at its best pick a location on the chart and go to it. I hope there are more people interested though. Now all we need is a tentative date and a theme. Cheers John

How about Bar Harbor, Mt Desert, Frenchman Bay? Pretty nice. Big
harbor, lots of islands to sail to or overnight behind.

I would like to hear from a lot more potential participants or facilitators on this but I love the idea of selecting somewhere on the east coast. I understand that it will be impossible to please everyone and I wonder if we need to have a pole about which destination to choose. personally I would chose anywhere "except Halifax" as I like the idea of sailing somewhere. If this is the same for everyone then we need to pick a neutral port. This is cool so if we all submit our home ports then we can average them out to insure we all get a bit of a trip. Your thoughts people of the East
