I am trying to arrange an East Coast Hunter trailerable rendevvouz which I have discussed with Hunter. They are very interested and it is time to get this off and running. August is the time for it and the first week is not good as I am another year older and wish to spend some time with the better half or she will beat me over the head with a rolling pin. I would like to know your response and suggestions to the dates so we can get this up and running. I ahve contacted some trailerable folks to spear head the project. Is there interest and suggestions to dates. Come on guys and Jim Seamons, you can change your plans for that weekend in August to come or I will hijack Java. Crazy Dave Condon

response to scott

Most of you know that I am a dealer and as a rule I do not give out where I am for respect to the forum. To answere your question, it has been suggested Kerr lake on the VA/NC border as it is logical location and there is a marina that will accomodate Crazy Dave Condon

Why not have it at the coast?

Dave, Is there a good place at the coast to have it? I am still learning about the NC Coast, But I enjoy the sounds and ocean much more than the lake. If you have it we will likely come. Our van can carry a lot of gear so if you need us to help give me a call. Frank

When

Hey Dave what week in August? I would be interested. Any chance of some racing over the weekend? It would be great to compare how everyone has personalized their particular Hunter.

Location Suggestion

I would suggest either Oriental, N.C. or New Bern, N.C. Both areas offer great sailing, several marinas, lots of antique shops (New Bern) and historical stuff(New Bern). The USPS has a rendezvous in Ocracoke the weekend of August 11th, so I'd suggest any of the other weekends. I can lend a helping hand too. Dave, you have my number. East Coast Hunter

I like the coast idea, mainly due to lack of wind in Aug on the lakes. I was thinking that maybe my lake would work, but we just have no wind and motor boats all over. At least on the coast we would have the sea breeze to sail on. I would only be able to come for a weekend. I would hope to race on Sat and go back on Sunday eve. Scott H23 "No Alibi"

Marina space

Coast is a good idea but the events fo the weekend will probably take all of our time. The biggest problem is of course marina space and most that I know of do not have the space. Any suggestions. Dave Condon

I vote for Charleston, SC

The City Marina in Charleston is a wonderful place to gather. $1.75 (or so) per foot with a thiry foot minimum ($37.50) per night. All facilities on hand except a swimming pool. Anchor out if you want. Great town for onland sightseeing, protected harbor with quick access to the Atlantic and ICW. Keith and Wanda S/V Gwaihir, H-23

Just another Suggestion

Hey Dave; I have an Idea. But first I have to agree with some of the other sailors about the coast. You know as good as I do that there is always better wind down there. I think we could have it somewhere in the Wilmington or Wrightville area. Good wind, the water is fairly calm, and if some of us want to race, Wilmington to Southport is a good run. Last boat buys First Dinner. Have a good Easter. See ya Monday. Byron " Jr. "
