It is time for Spring clean up and as I started to wash my boat,I found a bunch of Black streaks from the rain over the winter.(I guess ACid Rain?)Anyway, normal boat soap works but you have to scrub the crap out of it.Have any of you got any tricks that you use to remove those stains easily?I am going to wax afterward.I would just like to have a bucket of whatever and be able to wash the boat without killing myself. Thanks

Paul, The combo liquid cleaner/wax from WM...

works good for me in removing these stains. I use Soft Scrub kitchen cleaner on the tougher ones. It does not harm the boat finish. Terry

Cleaner/Wax

Every spring when I wax my boat, the cleaner/ wax removes the black streaks very easily. I like Maguire's 50 - does the job after washing. Also, the marine stores sell black streak remover, but I don't know how it works.

Laundry Soap

A friend recommended to me last year Liquid Tide With Bleach Laundry Soap. Works great! It is all I use to wash the deck. Cheap too! One bottle lasted all season. Wet the surface with a hose and then scatter small amounts of the soap full strength from the bottle on the deck. I fill the cap instead of lugging the jug on deck. Using a deck brush I have been able wash away the black streaks and even the gifts left by our local flock of friends quit easily. Be careful though, until you rinse the deck it is very slippery. To get the stains off the hull below the boot stripe try SnoBowl toilet bowl cleaner. Works very well. Jeff
