I felt a tremor looking at the latest Boat Babe pics.

My daughter was on a soccer field during the 8.9 Loma Prieta quake. Said the land rolled across the field. It was like riding on a surf board as the waves rolled past them.

I live in Texas but was in San Diego last week. I was on the 25th floor of the Marriott. It lasted long enough that I sat up and wondered if I should do anything. I think the building whipped a little.
It quit and I went downstairs and they said the only damage was a sprinkler that went off on the 23rd floor.

Weird coincidence" I too was in the 89 quake. I was Navy and was there at the end of my enlist to process out. They put me on admin hold and I helped with rescue ops. After almost two weeks they put me on a helo and sent me to San Diego to process out.

I'm a trauma magnet. You should hear the stories I can tell....lol

I was sleeping heavily one day when the earthquake took place. Didn't even realize it at first, only when the bed was shaking badly did I notice.

Ship's company aboard Belleau Wood (LHA-3) in (non-floating) dry dock in Long Beach in the late '70s. sitting on blocks. interesting to say the least.

Living in the Bay area for 10 years, quakes were an everyday no big thing (1989 the exception). Had a desk I used the was a touch unstable. Made a great quake detector. If the desk wobbled a little 1.5-2.9, if it wobbled and my coffee was stirred 2.9-3.2, if the coffee spilled on the desk I got up. and checked the backyard pool. If there were waves forming I had to go out get the hose and replace the splashed water. In 89 about 25% of the pool was sloshed out onto the grass. No cracks fortunately just a bigger water bill.

The clean up and recovery from the 1989 event took years to repair.
