E-Tec 90 Engine on the 26X or M?

I have my personal doubts about these engines. They use a system of direct injection into the head. My understanding is that this system uses a pressure of around 700psi. Necessary as it injects fuel into the comustion chamber on the compression stroke. Have heard no negative comments about them, but this much fuel pressure with gasoline, seems kinda scary to me.
