So close to the truth, it's sad, isn't it?
Reminds me of the last boat I tried to buy, another Hunter 33, a '79 model I think. The guy had it advertised for about 11k... after going through her and seeing what I thought she needed, I offered 7500 pending sea trail. The guy said yes, but after the trial, he asked me if I needed time to make up my mind. Although I said no, HE said he wanted to think about it! The next day, he said no...
That was 14 months ago. His boat has NEVER moved since then that I'm aware of. His slip is 350 mo., and he pays 35/mo to have the bottom cleaned. He's spent 5400 (minimum) since he turned down my offer, and he recently put it in the papaer again for 8500! He could have had 7500, now can't get 3100!! (8500-5400= 3100).
Wouldn't be surprised if he'd take 5k just to get out from under it!! (and I wouldn't pay a dime, just on principle).
Alot of people are trying to buy the dream only to find out it's someone else's dream...
if you don't love it, it's just blowing money.

Gave Away One Boat
..after I had it advertised for two months and calculating what it was costing me. She was beautiful and fast, but she was wood. It had to have a special owner and I wasn't finding him or her. My new boat was on the hard awaiting the slip. I donated it to a school and took the tax benefit. Another boat I bought was only nine months old and yet was a repo. I think the story was very close to the one written on Craig's List. However, from what I gathered from the documentation, it was complicated by his spouse finding out about some 'boat guests'... :naughty:

If you liked that Hunter, it seems now would be the time to make a new offer. If you feel the guy screwed - and he kind of did - getting the boat for less than you originally offered him would certainly be sweet revenge enough for me - especially if he did let it go for 5k.

However, not EVERYONE was disappointed with the deal falling thru(read: admiral!). And, she's on a kick to leave Florida and move to the Smoky mountains, so buying another boat isn't in the cards now!
