My Dutchman mainsail is very difficult to put the cover on. The problem is the sail flakes normally and hangs down a couple of feet on either side. Does anyone have an easy way to overcome this? I need to place 5 + sail ties in order to lift it enough to put the cover on. I know this can not be good for the sail. I also realize the sail needs to be replaced, but the $ is not there, maybe next season.

It isn't the Dutchman which causes the sail to droop. Sounds like your problem is easily solved with a larger sail cover

Just live with it until you replace the sail. Then get a Stack Pack, Mack Pac or similar setup to cover your sail.

Maybe your Dutchman lines are too loose. We have it and don't see the same problem. We use a couple of sail ties to neaten things up, after dropping the sail.

I agree with Tim, adjust the Dutchman lines and topping lift to get them to the right height. I normally use 2 straps and they are not really necessary..
