I have the Dutchman sustem on my boat ,but 2 of the mono lines broke as soon as I bougt the boat. Consequently I have never used the system. Can anyone that has this reefing system give me ant tips to set it up and use it correctly? I would like to know about adjusting the topping lift etc. when tryng to put in a reef.

For me, it's much more difficult to explain than to show someone - find a marina if you are not already at one and look around. This time of the season should be easy to find someone who has one and probably someone adjusting it. Just listen for the swear words...

Dutcham also publishes a well-written installation manual you can find on the internet.

If you can't, email me privately and I can scan and send you a copy of mine.

I have a love/hate relationship with mine; I hate it this time of year when I have to adjust it; I love it the rest of the time.

I agree w/Don. Had our system for 20 years; upgraded to newer version 3 years ago. I use monofilament weed wacker line. More info from the mfgr is at http://mvbinfo.com/dp_03_SF_brochure.html.

IMHO, the Dutchman system is very extreme... people either love it or hate it... I haven't owned one, but have been on many boats with them... getting the topping lift adjusted properly is the biggest thing.. if that's not right, it doesn't work very well... if it is right, the system rocks...
