I took a call from my marina yesterday. I was told that the mast of my 22 was caught up with my neighbors Starwind 223. I got to the marina quickly and observed in disbelief. The rear shroud of the Starwind had crossed over my mast and kept hold. We eventually seperated them. The only damage was my Raymarine ST30 wind meter was bent and the propeller was destroyed.

We have had strong SW winds since the huricane. I guess that was the culprit.

Where we stay it is very rough from boat wakes all day long. NNW winds are very bad so I have always insisted that the marina not put me next to another sailboat.

If you can, position your boat in your slip so the masts do not line up.

Same idea when rafting up.

I moved my positioning a bit in an attempt to offset the masts. Hopefully it won't happen again.
