duck bill cap on vented loop

hi peggy, told you a week ago that i finished totally replACING THE ENTIRE SANITATION SYSTEM. got boat in water today, primed head till got flow, checked for leaks and all seemed fine. pumped head several times more and noticed a little water and traced it to the duckbill cap on 1 1/2 vented loop. saw some bubbles and heard a hissing sound coming from cap. my question is, how tight should that cap be tightened down or should it be backed off a bit? any info will be helpful. thanks...jeff kaplan

Which vented loop are we talking about?

Intake (between pump and bowl)? Or the one in the head discharge line?

peggy, it is the 1 1/2" vented loop from the head to the discharge line that i am getting a little water and a hissing sound from.

It shouldn't hiss or spit bubbles

Tighten the cap just enough to make it quit doing that.

thanks, went to boat, tightened down the cap and no more hiss or water. your advise is always well taken...jeff kaplan
