DS 45 depthsounder cover

The cover for my Standard Communications DS45 depthsounder just broke and I learned that they are not available anymore through normal channels.

Does anyone know a source or perhaps have a spare lying around from a retired unit? The sun will break down the screen on the display pretty quickly if I don't figure out a way to cover it.

In other news: I downloaded the tracks recorded by my Garmin 3205. Everything is fine through when I turned it off 15 August. The next day, tracks are recorded with dates back in the Clinton administration. 15 August must have been the roll over day.

If that is the 4" square digital display black unit manufactured by Navman the number to call is 800-628-0045. www.leiextras.com. They sell spares and accessories for Navico, who bought Navman. I bought 5 covers, and it only took 6 months for them to come off of back order. The were about $11.00 each and have "NAVMAN" hot stamped in black on the face where it would say "STANDRD HORIZON".

Roger, www.dmimarine.com they do the round covers for the competitor, but the diameter's the same.

If they are 4" round units, many lids from food product cans will fit. I hve Data Marine inst. That was tougher. I found that a container that CD's are sold in fit when a little silicone is applied to the inside edge and allowed to dry. Bob

When you get replacement covers go ahead and paint them, not only will they look good but will also protect them from UV rays.
