Hi When I pump the head I get no water, the pump handle appears to be working well with teflon grease to lubricate it. Now I have not had time at this point to take off thru hull pick-up to see if that is blocked. doaes anyone know of any other reason why the pump will not draw water into the bowl. The head has just been put into service after the winter lay-up. Tony

Dry Head

Hi, I've had the same problem since I rebuilt the head, if I wait long enough, up to hours, with the valve in the "wet" I will get water and the head will work properly. I was hoping the problem may be caused by the vent being plugged???? Ron

Ron, the tank vent has nothing whatever to do with flush water

The tank is at the opposite end of the system--on the OUTbound side of the toilet...flush water is at the INbound end of the system. So trying to solve a flush water problem by messing with the tank vent would be the same thing as trying to fix a fresh water pump problem by using a plunger on the sink drain. You apparently didn't get the intake flapper valve installed correctly when you rebuilt the toilet.

Answers to your ?

Peggy Yes the thru hull is open. The boat is a 2004 Hunter 41, and its a Jabsco head with manual pump on the side, I don't know the model of the head at this time. Could it be the small rubber valve in the top of the pump in the wrong position?
