Just curious if anyone knows of a good place to store a trailerable boat in the L.A. area? Marina space is tight to non-existent, and for that reason am considering the Mac 26m so I can trailer it. Not a lot of room in my driveway, so i was wondering if anyone knew of a good place near Long Beach (planning on going to Catalina a lot) or even somewhere in the Valley (I live near Pasadena) would be fine. Just trying to get an idea on pricing. Thanks

Marina Del Rey has mast-up storage that is very convenient and inexpensive. I am thinking of keeping my boat there part of the year. It's a little further to Catalina than in Long Beach but if you go to the Isthmus instead of Avalon, it's not bad and you can sail most of the way, which you can't do from Long Beach. Novelman

Will Try MDR

Thanks! I assumed Marina Del Rey would be too expensive, but I'll have to check them out. It doesn't bother me that it's a little further. Thanks again.

You might try Wilmington Area

There are two areas that come to mind. One is at the end of Harbor Blvd in San Pedro at 22nd St next to the commercial fishing boat area. Go south on Harbor to 22nd sST - turn left. Storage on right. The other area is back behind the Cerritos Channel west of the draw bridge. Its difficult to get into there if you do not know shere you are going. The area is Pier A West area off of Anahiem and the end of the Terminal Island Freeway. Look for directions to the Colonial Yacht Anchorage Yard which is in the middle of all the boat storage yards back in that area. Berth 204 Anchorage Rd., Wilmington.

MDR

I have a 26M in the MDR dry dock. I find it a very easy launch and retreve. For me this has worked out good no draging the boat home after a sail. There is also a good group of people that store their boats there. I think there are about 75% Mac's of all ages. Just ass a side note there is a Mac dealer close by (Mike Innmon) he will take you on a trial sail and carreys all the parts. I almost forgot the monthly fee is 85.50 and it includes launch fees.

Wow! Very reasonable.

I had no idea it would be that reasonable for a MDR dry dock. Is that on the trailer or stored up? Anyway, thanks everyone for the info (and I still welcome more suggestions.

Also, how long is the Mac trailered?

I assume a trailered Mac 26 is around 28 ft.? Just wanted to know when I'm shopping around for spots to park it.

Whitney,

Don't forget about the mast overhang when figuring length on the trailer. My 260 barely fits in a 40' bay. The Mac is probably a little shorter, but not by much.
