(1995 H29.5) The interior covers state "Dry Clean Only". I took the seat covers and the mattress covers to my trusted dry cleaner and he felt that the backing on the covers would come off and weaken the covers. He was also concerned about the "mesh" on the underside mattress covers deteriorating. I am concerned about shrinkage using water or steam cleaning. Has anyone that used a dry cleaner had problems? What is the best way to clean?

Dry cleaning

The backing won't come off. Just keep trying a dry cleaner who'll do it. They shrink a tad but stretch right back. I do mine every other year, and only keep them on the boat during June-August. Avoids mold.

No dry cleaning for me

I received the same abojection from two dry cleaners and decided to wash them in regular home washing machine, regular soap and water. It comes out in superb condition, no separation etc... I may take a chance with one piece next year to see if the dry cleaners really know their stuff. Sincerely.

Dry Cleaning

We just did ours. No problem at all. Dan Jonas (S/V Feije)

another option

I test washed one of my cushions in cold water, Woolite and drip-dried. It still shrank. So I took all the cushions, foam and all, to a dry cleaner, and they cleaned the covers right on the foam. They claimed less shrinkage factor that way. It worked good, cost about $125.00 (3 years ago).

I Have the Answer

My sailmaker steam cleans cushions. They came out great. He did not remove the fabric,[it shrinks and loses its finish if you do] but cleaned the whole thing intact. Fred M s/v M Squared

I hand washed mine in cold water and Woolite and line dried them outdoors. It's alot of work but I did not have any problems. I plan to do my Bimini, sail cover, etc. next.

Cushion Cleaning

I read with interest the various answers...I feel that there are probably many ways to have interior cushions cleaned and equally many ways NOT to do it! On our 336 we removed the foam from the cover, washed the covers in cold water in a regular washing machine, and then while still wet [NO DRYER}, we replaced the covers and allowed the complete cushion to air dry on the dock - took a very short period of time, especially on the docks of windy Cape May. There was absolutely NO color loss from the cold water and it was easy to reinstall the foam since the covers were still wet. Hope this helps someone out there.
