Dry Cleaning Curtains

It's been a while since I had the curtains cleaned. So last issue this spring is to have them Dry Cleaned.
The owners manual is adament that they be dry cleaned, the curtains are tagged DRY CLEAN ONLY. But my dry cleaner will not.... They claim the slides will melt. Obviously they did'nt years back. Will they now because they're aged and fragile ??? Is the Dry - Cleaner being too cautious ???
Now I'm concerned.....
Anyone run into this situation ??? Thoughts ????? What about buttons on clothes, they don't melt...

Do I look for a different Dry Cleaner ???? They do a good job otherwise.

I just took mine hone and threw them in the washer with soap and oxy bleach.
they turned out fine, I missed the dryclean part

Tried the washer for my 1990 curtains. Gentle cycle, Dreft detergent. Final score- 2 curtains survived (and look good), 2 were shredded beyond recognition.

IMO, a satisfactory result.
