Whew... Some of these sound so sweet. For some reason I don't care for sweet drinks now that I have grown a little older. Here are a few of my favorites...
Take a shaker and add:
A couple drops of Dry Martini & Rossi vermouth
About 3 ounces of New Amsterdam Gin
About a cup of crushed ice
Shake.
Take 1 queen olive and one cocktail onion and skewer on a toothpick.
Toss into a Martini glass and pour strained Martini over olive and onion. Drink and instantly feel much, much better. Reserve remainder in the shaker for a quick drink refresh.
This is kind of a cross between a Gibson and a Martini. Sometimes I will use olives stuffed with Blue Cheese, Feta or Sun Dried Tomatoes for variety.
Other favorite:
Take a short glass
Add several pieces of cubed ice
Add about 2 ounces of either Famous Grouse Scotch or 40 Creek Canadian Whiskey
Add just a splash of pure water.
Swirl around, drink and enjoy.
A couple of sweet drinks that I invented that seem to be crowd pleasers:
Gingerbread man:
Take a short glass
Add several pieces of cubed ice
Add about 1 ounce of Canadian Whiskey
Add about 1/2 ounce of Kaluah
Add about 1/2 ounce of butterscotch liquor
Add about 1/4 ounce of Goldshlager
These are awesome in the winter when it is cold out side and you are sitting around a warm fire. They just warm your whole insides.
Jamacian Sunrise:
Take a tall highball glass
Add crushed ice
Add about 1 1/2 oz of Jamacian Rum
Add about 1/2 oz of cocunut rum
Add about 1/2 oz of banana liquor or rum
Fill the remainder with half orange juice and half pineapple juice
Add a splash of Grenadine
Garnish with a chunk of pineapple and a cherry skewered on one of those little plastic swords.
I invented these when my wife and I were on our honemoon in Negril and we spent most days on the nude beach. The bar there was self serve so I experimented quite a bit. These quickly became favorites with our unclothed, free spirited friends.

Great drink for the beach or lake.
From my understanding most sweet mixed drinks were invented during Prohibition, because the quality of the booze was so horrible the only way people could drink the stuff was to mix various sweet concoctions together in order to actually drink it. These days we don't have that problem, but the sweetened mixed drinks somehow live on.
