Does anyone know if there is a chart plotter app for Droid phones? Just curious if one is out there since Apple has one.

a Few weeks ago I search the "Market Place" and found an App called earthNC lite that I downloaded for free. I have not used it on the water yet but have set a waypoint or two. I don't want to spend $$ for an app, thats why I have a chartplotter but they do have a version that you can buy.
I think if you just go to earthnc.com you can find it.

I downloaded the Navionics Chartplotter on my HTC Incredible from the apps store. I used it the other day as just a test and it seems to work pretty well. Makes a good backup system.

I also use Navionics. My only gripe is the font size for soundings.

I downloaded earthNC lite to see what it can do. It would be cool if a free ap worked.

What happens "Bad"? My Droid Global came with EarthNc.Lite. Seems to work OK.

I purchased Navionics last summer, used it many many times whenever a quick reference to a chart was needed, like when at the restrauant, over dinner, or just when talking to someone and wanting to look for myself what they were talking about.

I do LOVE the wind forecasts...

I have used it a few times while out on the water, but mostly there I just use the chart plotter. It is a nice backup plotter, but I wouldn't trust my phone GPS for anything critical at all.


another usefull app is Marine Weather by Bluefin

Navionics was $14 or so.

Plus a small international processing fee that most credit card companies charge. I think i paid about $0.99

It's not that I can't afford a few bucks for an App. It's weather i really need it or not. I have other plotters on the boat and use my laptop off the boat for planning so the only reason for ME to have an App on the phone is as a third backup or just to play with. If I were spending $$ I would probably get the Navionics because thayts what I have on the Lowrance HDS7 we use.
Glad to hear the reviews on here to help me decide if I ever choose to buy an App.

Also, I have a Droid HTC Aris ? and the thing is slow. will find out when the boat is in the water if it can keep up with the boat speed Ha.

Nobody should "need " cell phones or apps. You "need" a magnetic compasss, paper charts and vhf radio, all else is "want".
