Back in Jan we started to build a Jordan Series Drogue in the event that we're off-shore an run into some foul weather. The final step was to get a weight for the end and I thought I could use up some of the lead I had in the garage. Here's the final product weighing in at 42 lbs. I used cold galvanized paint to cover the cylinder and chain and my wife made the cozy from bunk cover material. A lot of work and I hope we don't have to use it.

I would love to see the completed drogue when you are done. I am contemplating building the same thing in the near future.

We got the materials from Sailrite and I'm sure there was over 100 hours of work involved. Sewing the cones took ten minutes per piece and weaving them in the line was about the same. I had our sail loft do the eye splices for us and they are excellent. We also made the cover which the pictures show us loading. Ours is fairly heavy so we plan to secure it to the deck so it's ready when we are. Send me a PM if you need more info.
