Hi. I'm the owner of a Beneteau evasion 37 ketch and was wondering whether anyone has experienced removal of drive shaft. I need to remove mine since shaft is slightly bent and needs alignment. Can anyone please tell me whether engine has to be removed to replace shaft since it cannot be removed outwards. Thanks

If you do not want to drop the rudder your other solution would be to lift the engine a few inches. Lift does not mean remove! According to the space you have and how everything is installed, you might be able to just get the motor mounts unscrewed, lift the engine a few inches and pull the shaft under the now raised engine. You might even be lucky and be able to bring the shaft forward without taking the flange off. Good luck

I I have an oceanis 352 1999 and I had to replace my shaft a couple years back.. if you remove the prop and have the rudder dead center, the shaft will slide by the rudder, it's very tight but it will pass by. Of course you have to remove the hub that connects the shaft to the transmission so that you can slide it through the fiberglass tube that the drive shaft runs through.. It was not necessary to drop the rudder..

Thanks for your advise, but its not a matter of not wanting to remove the rudder or not, its because there's a fixed column which supports the rudder from below. But lifting the engine is a great idea.
