Drilling into my Mast

I'm installing a Lazy Jack system on my Oday 272 and it requires me to install two cheek blocks on the upper area of my mast. What steps do I take to assure me that I don't harm the strength of the mast when I drill into the mast?

Not a problem, Doug

Yesterday, I did the very same thing you are asking about. Two cheek blocks about 2/3 the way up the mast for a self-improvised lazyjack system. Since I am still on the hard with the mast unstepped, I didn't have to climb. I drilled four holes just large enough to accept a pop rivet and mounted the blocks. Think of all the other holes that are already in the mast ... shroud and stay tangs, spreaders, cleats, winches, whisker pole tracks, etc. They don't compromise the strength of the mast and neither will the cheek blocks.
