I am looking for a use drifter for my just restored '75 C27. What is the ideal size and cloth weight? Any ideas where I might order one? Many thanks.

Drifter

I've got a drifter (could really be a reacher) for my 1975 c27. I took "rough" measurements once and they were 32ft leach, 32 ft luff, 20ft foot - but very baggy. Mind you, I've got furling, and the sail was cut for furling. The sail is dacron, weight??? considerably less than a normal 150 say 2.0oz. Even with 3/8 sheets with a shackle the sail is totally full in 3kt breeze, 1/4 sheets would be better. Awesome on a reach or to windward in 10knots or less - can't figure out why it took me 3 years before I used it. My sail was made by North (by P.O.). Any reputable sailmaker should be able to help. Hope this helps.

drifter

This is part of a previous post I copied, can't remember the poster's name, but very good info. The "drifter" is a nylon (spinnaker cloth) genoa with a loose luff and luff tensioning tackle at the tack. The luff is really stretchy, about 1 1/2 foot tensioning range. Useful in calm up to about two knots wind. It has removable plastic carabiner style hanks (5) so it can be used double headsail downwind.
