I saw my dream boat on the side of a Hwy with a For Sale sign taped to her hull. A Catalina 22, swing keel. I stopped got the phone # and specifics, went home and immediately started researching to make sure the cost was in the ballpark. It was not only in the ballpark, it was much lower. I bought her, brought her home and other than general maintenance I was very lucky to find a boat like her. I've wanted to own my own boat for as long as I can remember but it was never feasible before. Now she's all mine.

No Feeling Like it...

is there, Pam. When I got my first boat, I liked to lay down on it at night and stare up at the stars through the rigging... Try it sometime! Best of Luck, and Enjoy. Plenty of advice and info in the archives of this site. Rob

WOW!!! Congratulations. It's really exciting to find a boat like that especially if it only needs minor maintenance. Let us know how it sails. k10

Something Worth Waiting For

GOOD FOR YOU PAM! You will have lots of fun, create fond memories, and learn something new every time out. The first time you anchor somewhere, on a moonlit star filled night, is a thrill to experience. Fair winds, and good sailing.

Very similar

Your situation is very similar to what happened to me this spring. I had been researching sailboats for over a year, and my wife and I had decided that 2002 would be the year to get one. So what does she do? She gets me a subscription to Sail magazine and brings me to a boat show. All of a sudden now she gives me a dollar amount and says if I can find a good boat for under that amount that maybe I should buy it. Withing a few days I found a '76 C22 in mint condition and I bought it. Congratulations and Good Sailing! Keith K. S/V Vesta

THAT'S MY STORY TOO!

Wow, you know the same thing happened to me. Always wanted a sailboat, but never had enough capital. Then one day, there she was, and the owner was giving it up for next to nothing. I've worked on it all summer as my project, restoring the teak, cleaning it up, redoing the electrical, and now she's in tiptop condition. It's been great therapy.
