Hey Guys - My Yanmar 3GM30F engine manual says that I should change the fresh water every year AND that there is a drain plug on the side....I have pulled several bolts out but none were the drain plug. Has anyone been successful at this task?

You mean the anti-freeze coolant?

The anti freeze engine coolant drain valve is on the port side behind the alternator. There should be a clear hose attached. If you mean the fresh water supply to winterize the engine, that is on the starboard side and it too has a clear hose attached - kind of between the mixing elbow and the fuel filter. You should get a Clymer book or equivalent for many answers about your Yanmar Engine.

Thanks

Hey, Thanks Gemini I fully agree that the Yanmar Manual is inadequate and I was wondering if there was a user-friendly publication that could fill in all of those dead spaces. Thanks for the suggestion on Clymer book. I will be sure to buy one. The one petcock that I have used is on the aft end of the heat exchanger. It has the clear plastic hose and I must have drained two quarts out of it but the water-level in the coolant reservior tank (on the bulkhead) never went down - so I figured that what I was draining out was river water. I will not investigate the port-side of the engine (which is very crowded and pushed against the bulkhead) for that other petcock. Thanks again. Doug Anderson
