I just bought a 1980 Oday 22 in pretty good condition.I will need some information on the electrical system. I will also need to know where the heck is the drain plug and how do I get into the bilge. I would sure appreciate any help that anybody can give. Thank you

No Plug/No Bilge

I owned a 192, which is very similar to your 222 and there are no drain plugs on these boats. They are self bailing hulls and if you have an outboard, there is no bilge either. Bill O'day 240 Second Wind

there is

there is no drani plug. Usually only a small amount of water gets into your bilge, from rain, leaky ports, etc. The hole for the bilge should be just in front of the companionway on the floor of the cabin. There should be about a 3in in diameter hole. The blige is about 89 inches deep. If there is water in there, use a manual bilge to get 99% of the watewr out and sponge up the rest. Some 22 owners have installed a low profile electric bilge pump, but do not think that is totally necessary.
