I have a 1981 catalina 30. I thought the draft was 5'3", however, this year my boat is on dry dock next to another Cat 30 and noticed that is seemed to draw much more than mine. I got out the tape measure and measured both. The one next to me is 5'3" from the waterline. Mine is 4'10". Walking around the marina I noticed there were several others that seemed to draw the same as mine. Does the fin keel come in 2 differend depths? I have only seen the 5'3" spec in the owners manual.

Wing Keel?

I agree with you. The only specs that I know are for a fixed keel 5'3" or wing keel at 4'5" yours at 4'10" is strange to me.

Three different keels

There were three keel available for the C30. The inwg draws under 4 feet, the shoal draft keel runs about 4'6" feet and the fin is 5'3". The wing is obvious. The difference netween the fin and shoal is the way the keel is tapered. The fin is longer and tapers in, the shoal tapers out and is thicker at the bottom.
