We have a 1980 Hunter 25 that is currently in N.C. We're looking to bring it down but I'm have a bit of trouble determining the draft of the boat. The specs I find online tell me it's either 2'11" or 3'11". I can't find a place to look up my hull number in hopes of help that way, so short of going under the boat, does anyone know where I can find better specs for my boat?

Draft

Assume 4' unless you're willing to haul her out and tape it. regards, Jim

Drop a line...

... under the boat starting at the bow and moving each side back along the toerails to just aft of the chainplates. This should put the line under the keel. Pull it snug and mark the line at the waterline each side. After you pull the line back, measure the distance from waterline mark to the other. Divide this by 2 and this will give you a rough draft slightly larger than your true draft.

Draft

Assume 4' like Jim said and forget about it. Even if you are trying to find a trailer to put it on, you can shim up, or shore it up. You certainly will not want to cut the keel down. What is the real problem anyway? 3'11" is a shoal draft and definetly shallow enough for most waters.
