I am thinking about replacing one of the lightblulbs in my 1990 Catalina 30 to one of the Dr. LED lightbulbs. I am not sure which bulb would fit but I think that it is the Bayonet bulb, double contact LED, indexed (offset), white light but I am not 100% sure. Does anyone know if this is the right bulb? It is for the brass light fixture that is mounted on the bulkhead, near the table, and it was the factor standard light. Has anyone tried one of these bulbs and found it to be bright enough? What do you think of the bulb? Any other suggestions?

I am 60 miles from the boat.....

and I am not going to go down there for a while. I am not 100% sure if the bulb that I mentioned it the right one. I would have to see the bulb to know but I don't plan to go to my boat for a few weeks. I was hoping that someone might know the type of fixture that I am talking about and they might know if I am talking about the right bulb.

I think that you can see how difficult it will be to

be certain without having a sample in hand.

Replaced all interior lights

with LED lights, they were the baynet 2pole type, but had 36 mini bulbs on a inch& 1/2" square. I also made one of my over head cabin lights red for night sailing, it works out very well and is more than bright enough. Although I do get comments from non sailing people about the color. I also have 2 small red lights in the cockpit for night sailing when I need them.

AUTOMOTIVE 1147 DIDN'T WORK

BAD, RECENTLY I WAS IN AN AUTO PARTS STORE, HAPPENED TO SEE A LED REPLACEMENT FOR AN 1147 BULB. WHEN I INSTALLED IT IN THE BRASS FIXTURE YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT IT DID NOT WORK. A RECENT POST REFERED TO superbrightleds.com. THEY HAVE THE BULBS ALL THE REST OF THE FIXTURES USE. THIS COMING WEEKEND I WILL TRY TO FIGURE OUT EXACTLY WHAT BULBS MY 89' C30 TAKES. IF YOU DON'T HAVE AN ANSWER BY MONDAY I WILL LET YOU KNOW. GOOD LUCK

JimB you may have a polarity problem on that fixture

try reversing the wiring connections. The "D" in LED is for diode. They only work one way.

Good stuff

I have a couple DR LED's in reading lights and they are the brightest in that genre. I have used a couple of Sensi-Bulbs (sailorssolutions.com) in overhead fixtures & they also work well.
