Doyle stack pack

I am considering a new main sail with the Doyle Stack Pack. I don't want to give up ANY performance. They claim no loss of speed or sail efficiency. Does anyone have any first hand experience? Thanks.

I've got a pack on my Hunter Vision 36. The Doyle stackpack makes stiking the sail a piece of cake. And,underway, with the main fully raised, the "pack" flattens against the main with minimal effect; however, with a reef in, the pack "blooms" out and could create some drag albeit at the foot of the main. The resultant effect, at the foot of the sail, might make a difference, on the negative side.

I bought a new loose footed 3 + 1 main last year from Doyle and decided to go with the Dutchman furling system. Its hard to beat---the main drops down, completely furled, onto the boom, everytime. When reefing, it just lays there on the boom.If I was going to buy a brand new boat, I would go with a fully battened main, for the performance, and the Dutchman system instead of in mast furling.I don't know what the difference in price is; the Dutchman isn't cheap. But it does make a difference when I want to go out for a 60 minute afternoon or evening sail...before, I just wouldn't have gone.s/v Synchrony1990 H30

Doyle StackPack

We see alot of StackPacks here in Florida. What I hear, is the ease of handling far outweighs any loss of performance. The fact that all you need to do is unzip the cover and attach the halyard seems pretty easy to me. No Sail ties, no need to find a place to stow a wet cover, and no need to tie up the main when you reef.With a Dutchman system, you still need to deal with ties and covers
