The main on my Vision 36 is way too big for me to handle by myself. I am considering buying a Doyle Stack Pack system. Is any one familiar with this? Does it work as advertised? Also currious about the instalation...will my main need to be modified to accomodate this?? Any fedabck is greatly appreaciated. Leif Askeland

that the stackpack doesn't work well on the new Hunters because the sails are stiff/slippery. I'll follow this posting to see how others respond. It really seems like an ideal setup to me vs. the Dutchman/lazy jacks/furling setups. If your sails are less than new it might work well.

Don, your sails won't be stiff and sliipery for long! the cloth UK apparently uses depends on sizing to hold it's shape, and it breaks down/washes away pretty quickly. I'd ask Doyle's opinion

I don't know anything about the stackpack but I bought and installed a Mack Pack about a month ago and I just love it. I have a H34 and it is a different boat with this system. Just go head to wind, release the halyard and the main falls into the sail cover, zip it up and you are done. It also looks pretty sharp as well.

See Related Link. No magic with Mack or Doyle, they are both lazyjack systems. They just do away with the hassle of putting on the cover. They add some windage that has to be considered when getting in and out of that narrow slip. What the heck, spend the bucks and get the furling boom.

Love the Mack Pack
Leif, I purchased the Mack Pack for my Vision 32 last spring and love it. It works as advertised and is a quality piece of work. It has the added advantage of giving you a new lazy jack system that works much better than the factory equipped system (more lazy jack lines extending to the end of the boom to contain the leach of the sail when its lowered). I also purchased new Mack sails, and the stiff material does have to be gently coaxed into the Mack Pack, but its easy to do and very convenient. Its also easy on your sails as the sailcloth is loosly tucked into the Mack Pack. Its a good investment.
