We have sat out even summer storms on floating docks and if the local protection is not adequate, the docks can develop severe motion and exacerbate the situation, including adding additional chafe to the lines. In addition, if the hardware comes loose that connects to the pilings, the docks and the boats float away. After 14 named storms and who knows how many local storms, floating docks are our least favorite and IMO the most vulnerable. But if that is all you have, be sure and secure the boat to the nearest pilings and not the docks. Chcuk
