I set my bow anchor first and back up
until I am pointed at the worst of the waves and then drop my stern anchor and pull the boat forward by hand until I have about A seven to one scope fore and aft and snug things up. I just take out most of the slack. This way we don't swing to the wind or the current and the wakes from the channel hit us on the bow instead of the beam. Why the bow anchor first? because I like to set it under power and I won't back down under power on a loose stern anchor rode. Pulling the boat forward by hand and snubing the stern anchor rode sets the stern anchor.
