I have made that trip several times. We are fortunate to have these beautiful visitors often. Especially between Oceanside and SD.. Certain times of the year, I have seen some pods that must contain 100's of dolphin. Those large pods seem to on the move, sometimes overtaking me and will continue to pass me for 15-20 min. It's amazing to see.

So now the question: Why do they do that? In our area I've only had a single play around our boat once. Most of the time they stay well away from us. From simple observation I would assume they like the pressure wave ahead of the boat.

We usually get two or three but one time we counted a pod of eight just circling, going under the boat and jumping ahead of the bow. Pretty exiting; nice video posting by the way.
