We went out on Lake Michigan this weekend and with tw o old sails reached Max hull speed, what fun. Here is a link to the vid on Youtub: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmsbwAc4lLM it is short but sweet.
Sweet indeed! The old girls really move along in a good wind. I am guessing your boat is a 1983? I would love to add your stats to the H37C database...We went out on Lake Michigan this weekend and with tw o old sails reached Max hull speed, what fun. We actually showed 7.8 knots but I think max hull speed is 7.4 so knot log may be off.Very nice. But I wanted to see the knot log in the video. Just sayin'.![]()
Thanks, for the comments. Here is a pic of our next trip on the lake. Over max hull speed again. Awesome sail.My wife and I are in the middle of a two week cruise from Barnegat Bay, to Block Island, to Newport RI, and now in Mattituck, NY. We have seen speeds to 8.5 but that is with a current. Today with a 10-12 knot wind we averaged 6.2 knots on a reach/beam reach full sail. Sweet! The two other boats were motor sailing and could not keep up. Made for interesting cocktail conversation at the anchorage.
