All the forums I see in here talks about swing keel. My 1983 Hunter 22 has a fixed keel. Am I the only owner with one or are they just so reliable nobody has a problem with theirs?
I've had both over the years and I think the fixed is better. I do have an odd low-frequency vibration in the rudder at times that may be a result of an unfair keel but it is not bad so I just live with it. I've checked the rudder itself and don't see any looseness in the pintles or flexure in the blade . . ???
My 1983 H22 has a fixed keel and I think you may have stated something that we have suspected- It is so reliable that not much needs to be said.I find my boat tracks well and is stable enough for my two grandchildren and MY Mother! Good sailing to all!
