Does anyone out there have a dodger installed on his boat, that I could have a picture of?
Mine is a H33 (1982); I have 2 winches on the cabin top, will they interfere with the dodger? Also have a stainless steel vent in front of the port winch, and a rope clutch in front of the starboard winch
I took it out of a similar boat at the salvage yard, and going over my inventory at my garage, was delighted to see I have one! Cannot wait to install!
The canvas is all there, but needs to be re-done
All my neighbours at the Marina cannot believe how I transformed this boat!
Allow mw to pat myself in the back, and let out a cruel chuckle for all the pessimist idiots who said I could not do it

Have a canvas shop look at the boat and give you ideas. They are pros and can usually work around a lot of minor problems. They may have even done one of your model in the past and normally have photos of their work.

Be sure to look at boats that they have done before you put any money down.

Forgot to mention, but there is a dodger on the frame, although not in great shape
I will take it to a canvas shop and use it as a templete
My question is: where does it go on the boat?
Where does it connect to?

Another avenue you might try would be to use the frame then call SailRite and see if they can make you a kit that you stich together yourself to make a new dodger. http://search.sailrite.com/category/bimini-dodger-kits-projects by the way I do not work for sailrite I just know they make simple to build kits for sailors.

There are zippers that close the canvas around the two frame bows. Then there is a row of those quarter turn snaps across the front and down both sides. The tails of mine have braided line that you run through a little eye strap and double back to tighten the whole thing. I only have one picture but it lacks the detail.

The one on my H31 is very similar to Ed's. Snaps with a stainless mounts for the frame. Mine is off for canvas repairs and new zippers, so I can readily take a picture of the mounts and location of the snaps for you.

I amplified your picture, so I was able to zero in on it: I am not at my boat now, but if I remember correctly, the winch is more or less where the round plastic window is ( another on the port side), as well as the rope clutch, just in front of it
Is it not going to interfere with the dodger, or is there maybe a gap so you can oprtate winch and clutch?
Also, I understand about the turn snaps in front and sizes, but cannot visualize what you mean about the braided line through the eye starp and double back: where is it located on the picture?

You can almost see that braided line. It comes off the tail of the dodger and through that eyelet just in front of that cleat on the side of the coaming. Then I run it back up to an eyelet that is on the aft most bow(frame). I tie it off there. I can pull that line through that eyelet and really tension the canvas. Most dodgers just have another snap back there. But if the canvas shrinks it can be hard to snap.

So far as lines led back I only have one on the port side. It just goes under the dodger. Most dodgers have little mouse holes lined with leather or some other tough material to prevent wear.

One last question: clearly these are 2 different boats, but does the dodger cover the whole companionway?
In other words, how does the sliding hatch slide forward?
Does it interfere with the dodger in any way?

It's me again!
On closer inspection of your picture, I notice that your sliding hatch slites inside a cover, while mine slides on top
So we have 2 different kinds; I wonder if there is anyone out there with a similar boat...
If not, I will have to make a plan, maybe there are pictures somewhere

I want to know if he fabricated a piece of fiberglass and made 2 round holes on it, so that the sheets can go through
A very neat device indeed, because he coulkd not otherwise use his winch
I have a very good man who can do anything in FG, and am hoping to see a bit more

Without that the dodger canvas would just fit tight and the companionway hatch would slide under it. That should not change the way the lines come back and under however.

I know the lines go on either side and not over the sliding hatch
I was thrown by the picture you sent me from Dave Underwood's dodger ( look at the one taken from the cokpit, with the front hatch opened up: you will see that the 2 holes that the lines go through appear to be made on a piece of fiberglass he had fabricated)
But I see your picture also, where there is a cut made on the dodger to allow the line to pass under.
A sea hood, by the way, is a very desirable thing to have, and I will see if I can find one.

You can double click on the photos and it shows clearly how the lines come through the dodger. It works flawlessly.

Jorge, check the pictures at the bottom of this link: http://www2.sailrite.com/Build-Sailrite-Dodger.htm . You can see the frame there. There are pockets for the frame tubes inside the dodger. The pocket is closed with a zipper and runs the width of the top of dodger. One pocket is at the very front, at the top of the windshield. The other pocket is at the very back of the top of the dodger. You lay the frame tubes into those pockets and zip them shut. Then you start at the bottom-front with the turn snaps and work your way around.

If I understand your question correctly it is secured at the top with a "pocket" type zipper that runs the width of the dodger at the aft side.
