Dodger Snaps

The aftmost snaps on my dodger have always been tender. A firm nudge from a genoa sheet or someone's shoe knocks them loose, leaving the end of the dodger flapping in the breeze and the snap playing a tune on the gelcoat. When we get strong winds out of the north (like yesterdays 25 knots)which are over Shibumi's stern in my marina, the snaps come loose with no other provocation. Resetting involves loosening the frame, snapping again, and then retightening the frame which is not a big deal, but it gets tiresome. Does anyone have an ingenious solution for stengthening the holding power of dodger snaps? Thanks.Gary WyngardenS/V Shibumi H335

Change the type of fastener

Have similar problem on my boat. Best solution I've seen is to use common sense turnbutton type fasteners. Joelh456/Song Of Texas

Try this:

Replace the part fastened to the hull, lube the part attached to the dodger with a spray lubricant, that may give some life to it. When you replace the dodger, have it made with better fasteners. Good luck!

not a problem

I have the better type fasteners as joel said and they never come lose if anything some are hard to put on and hard coming off go for better if you can change them.
