In the H260 brochure, I see options for a Companionway Canvas and a Bimini -- has anyone installed a Dodger on thier H260? While I am on the subject, what is the Companionway Canvas used for and is the Bimini worth it?

Dodger would be tough!

Quest, There is not much room for a dodger on the H260 due to the placement of winches and other sailing hardware. And to get to the outside of the hardware would take away walking room for getting to the bow. Afraid on this boat a dodger would be in the way. Companionway canvas? If you look at this link you can see what I had made for my H260. When towing or sitting still this cover kept rain out of the boat. Even used it a couple of times while under sail to keep rain out and have the companionway open to communicate with my wife down below. Jim S/V Java

Companionway Canvas

Looking at huntermarine.com options and pricing for the 260, the companionway canvas they have listed should be the pop-top cover. At least for $477, I hope it is. The companionway canvas most people are installing to keep the sliding hatch from leaking is considerably cheaper than that. They have them here in the chandlery for comparison. The pop-top canvas is nice to have (actually it is more of a tilt-top). We love our bimini. It is nice to have shade on demand, helps keep the weather out of the cockpit and the sun from cooking your brains.

Bimini is a must

I sail my boat on Lake Mead near Las Vegas, Nevada. I don't think you could stand to be on the lake very long without a Bimini. Right now it is 111-degrees outside and it would be tough to take these temperatures and be in the sun at the same time.

I had a 260 and now have a 240 so, I'm familiar with your questions. The companionway is the opening to go from the cockpit into the cabin, and this canvas covers the opening including the sliding hatch on top. Dodger goes on this opening with the sliding hatch, popped up, which increases your headroom below, but cuts down on your deck space. Bimini is an awning with metal supporting bows and rails, but usually can be rolled up into it's boot cover and stowed. The 260 with stern seats or not take different installation rails

Poptop and Companionway Canvas

The canvas over the companionway is a must. Companionway cover keeps the dirt and water out of the boat. Protects the companionway teak boards too. The poptop is great. Gives you much more headroom in the cabin when overnighting. The optional screens provide great ventilation. Both of these canvas pieces can use the same set of snaps on the boat. Our poptop came with the boat and we fit our own companionway cover to match the existing snaps.
