Just got the same scam letter, how'd they know my address. The letter did look official but had to read close that it was just a courtesy letter. Anyone got a group action against them and need another name for the list?

Which is why I always wonder why the USCG and US Borders and Customs never know who I am when I interact with them. I think they just want me to stay on the phone a while longer when I call them. DMV in my state doesn't have that kind of access. Hmmmmmm.

Thanks Maine Sail. Just looked at mine again. All the same printed on a sheet having a watermark behind all the print saying U.S. Vessel Documentation. Back in the recycle bin.

The Admiral handles our boat's Documentation etc. She uses her iCalender app for all sorts of reminders and even lead times. Thanks to SBO, I had alerted her, but we received no alternate provider letter.

My guess it is us...

I got my "real" one from USCG about three weeks after fake one. All done for another year.

My credit card company clawed back the $75, the USCG cashed my check for $26, and sent me the certificate. Enough consumer complaints and many credit card companies may stop processing stuff for these clowns. The real USCG recommends you file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission
FTC.gov and in addition file a complaint with DHS Inspector General. I suppose you could complain to your State Attorney General, but they may not care as these folk are impersonating a federal agency.
