This is the first time I will have a documented boat. How did you guys install your numbers. I've found some laser-etched stainless plates on the Web. I'm a little concerned about routing numbers on a laminate bulkhead.

Sand a portion of your exposed hull or liner, Paint on the numbers (stencil if you want to be neat), and brush over with some resin when done. That's pretty permanent.

Go to hardware and buy stick on numbers of the required size. Stick them to the hull - I put mine behind the settee cushion.
Get some west systems epoxy and mix it up and paint over the numbers.

Permanently attached, inexpensive and nice looking.

Take a look at this website. We ordered our USCG Documentation Plaque from them. Very high quality workmanship.

a. It should be a non-removable sign. Burned into a beam, or as other suggest, laminated in.

b. It does NOT have to be in plain view. Inside a locker is just fine.

This is how I did mine, it is fast and easy. Inside the port lazarette.

On my boat the PO stenciled the numbers (paint) on a beam member in the bilge and glassed over it.
