That question's a bit broad and general...
My experiences have varied from marina to marina- It all depends on what services the marina is capable of providing. In some cases, the Dockmaster is expected to explain the rules of the marina, security precautions, a guide to the facilities available, etc. In some cases, I just ecpect him to tell me where to tie off, and how much it will cost to stay any length of time. In still other cases (like municipal piers or marinas), I don't even expect to see a dockmaster most of the time. Is there something more specific you were looking for?
