What do you expect of a dockmaster when you put in to a marina?

That question's a bit broad and general...

My experiences have varied from marina to marina- It all depends on what services the marina is capable of providing. In some cases, the Dockmaster is expected to explain the rules of the marina, security precautions, a guide to the facilities available, etc. In some cases, I just ecpect him to tell me where to tie off, and how much it will cost to stay any length of time. In still other cases (like municipal piers or marinas), I don't even expect to see a dockmaster most of the time. Is there something more specific you were looking for? What Do You Want To Know

I am a Dock Master.When possible I try to assist in docking, but more than likely my initial contact with boaters will be when they come to the office to inquire about dockage, at which time I explain how to find and negotiate our channel, as well as explain the rules and assist with local information (shopping, restaurants, etc.)
