If you cut the tail off as close as possible you usually wont have any issues with sharp corners.

While less likely with a floating dock, it looks like it'd be possible for those fenders to roll up and over the dock if a large enough wave came through and the boat was pressed up against the dock

Probably a dumb question but, what are those winches with the wire cable used for? Inquiring minds (alleged), want to know.

Those are floating docks anchored to the bottom. Those lines adjust tension.
+1 Many of the lakes around here were built for flood control- levels fluctuate as much as 35 feet. Tensioned floating docks are the best way to handle that amount of elevation change. Our lake is just getting back to normal levels after heavy rains this winter:
