Prop walk and Prop wash
Putting the boat into neutral eliminates prop walk but you have to have speed for the rudder to work. Prop walk can be a good thing!!! In low or no wind conditons I can get my boat completely under control in tight quarters using prop wash and prop walk. Slow reverse to use prop walk to pull the stern to port and bursts of high rpm propwash to push the stern to the starboard. The bursts will push the stern without much forward movement. Or if you are moving backwards the burst will just stop the boat with the stern moving to the starboard. Practice helps a lot. I've noticed that when I haven't docked in a while my docking is much more difficult. It's probably harder to dock a boat than land a small airplane. Both become much more difficult in windy gusty conditions.
