I recently saw a boat docking accessory while staying overnight in a transient slip. The boat in the slip next to us had a device attached the slip's forward pilings that looked a lot like an old-style clothesline retractor. A line lead from the "retractor" to the bow lines. It was set up so that you could just let go of the bow lines and they would be pulled back to the piling by the retractor. There was a large blue plastic loop also attached to the line, which would be easy to grab with a boathook when returning to the slip. I was intrigued by the system, but failed to write down the name of the product. I do recall that it was made specifically for marine docking purposes, but I've searched the internet using every keyword I could think of, and can't locate the product. Does anybody know who makes this system, and what it is called? Thanks for any info. Pete s/v "Sh'boom" H356 #53

It's called FirstMate

It's called FirstMate. I saw them on EBay not too long ago. "It is being sold now by BOW (Boat Owner Warehouse) for around $89.00 + tax and shipping in a test market." is from an email the EBay seller sent me. I like the sound of it myself, though I haven't gotten them yet. Maybe for the Spring.
