I am considering a water hook up on my boat via a regulator inlet. My question is would it be possible to tee into the cold water line side of the hot water heater without causing backflow problems through the pump to the water tanks while hooked up? Any ideas? Suggestions? Thanks! J.B.

CONSIDER THE CONSEQUENCES

If the regulator fails, resulting in full water pressure, the plumbing on your boat may burst and the boat will sink.

Mine works

My boats plumbed exactly like that, works fine. Just be sure to turn off the water at the dock when not actually on the boat. Then you won't have to worry about sinking.

Backflow valve

There is a valve which you need to install to insure the water doesn't back flow to the on board pump and tanks.

Pumps have usually

two check valves and, thus, you don't have to add extra valves. For the short time I was at a marina in Ft.Lauderdale 3 years ago, I connected the shower hose, conveniently located at the boat's stern swimming platform, to the marina's water supply via a filter, a pressure regulator (WM), and a valve which I could close before leaving the boat. For watter to flow in, I kept the shower valve open and in the cold water setting. I have never used the setup again but I still keep it on board,¡Kjust in case ƒº.

Thanks

I've been looking at this for a while and just wanted to run it by the forum before I started cutting lines. I was thinking that it would work, just wanted to make sure. Alan, Ron, I'm one of these folks that shut everything down when I'm away from the boat so there's zero chance of that happening but I appreciate the warning. Thanks again! J.B.

Lawn sprinkler timer

If you're ever tempted to leave without shuting everything down take this easy percaution. Add a inexpensive lawn sprinkler timer at the dock. If disaster happens this will limit the volume that is allowed to enter the boat. S/V Anodyne

WATER HOOKUP

there is along history of submissions on this subject in the archives i have done this but i never leave the boat( even fo dinner) without DISCONNECTING the hose. turning it off is fine unless someone next to you turns your water on by mistake. also you need to use pressure reducer or you will blow fittings on the boat t

Under what key word or words in the archives did you find the information? I tried several combinations before making this post and got zip.
